Waypoint Yachting is a partner school of International Yacht Training. On our VHF SRC radio courses you receive IYT qualification.

Thematics

  • Review of the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress Safety System) on an iterative basis.
 
  • The communication tools used in the A1 area and their operation will be reviewed, e.g. VHF DSC radio, NAVTEX, SART, EPIRB, AIS, but also INMARSAT, COSPASS-SARSAT and other satellite systems.
 
  • Practise the types of communication dialogues in the A1 range in English using a real VHF radio.

 

  • There is no exam, the emphasis is entirely on learning to practice.

Who we recommend

  • For those who already have a ROC or SRC radio qualification and would like to refresh their radio skills e.g. before the sailing season.
 
  • For those who have previously failed the VHF-SRC radio exam and would like to prepare for the next exam (voice communication part only).

Method of training

  • The main focus will be on mastering communication tasks, which will be practiced using a real VHF DSC radio. These tasks include Routine, Safety, Urgency and Distress calls.
 
  • Each listener acknowledges and transmits the above calls by radio.
 
  • Solve other communication tasks with shore and other vessels from the specially designed task collection.

The training fee includes:

  • The opportunity to participate in the course. 
  • The teaching notes you will receive during the training.

The courses will be held in Diósd (2049 Diósd, Tücsök utca 15). 

The training starts if at least 2 people apply. If a course is cancelled, students who have already registered will be notified and further opportunities will be discussed.

The price of the training is per person.
